This was the month of the kiss and wave, both distributed freely to friendly folk. Since last month, Francesca has ended most every nap by rolling over on to her side and waving wildly as if to say "over here!" -- now she waves not only to get attention but also as a greeting. On the smoochy front, Francesca cannot manage a pucker but will gently place her lips on a person's cheeks and will often kiss her parents when they are kissing her.

When not busy perfecting her kissing technique, our little nipper continues to expand her sound repertoire -- the most recent sound being "la," said with great glee while sticking out her tongue. Ga, gee, ya, the occasional ma, and her patented battle cry are still in heavy circulation. On April 28, Francesca's second tooth broke through the gum right next to her long-standing fang.

Francesca continues to expand her food repertoire. She always wants to try what everyone else is having and seems to like almost all of it, including salmon! True to her Italian heritage (earlier displayed by an immediate ability to roll her Rs and a refusal to drink cold beverages), Fresca even enjoys the taste of black coffee. Her coffee proclivity was discovered when Ioana brilliantly decided to let Francesca taste it since that would certainly result in her not lunging for that cup any longer -- guess again.

All three of us have happily moved and settled into our new Oakland home, which is the blue house in the pictures. We're pretty much out of boxes and have begun really enjoying the house and neighborhood, which has excellent pizza, pastries, and coffee all within walking distance.
