Month eleven was all about starting to talk, trying to walk, and sprouting teeth.
Francesca clearly says baby, ball, book, bye-bye (while waving as if on the top of a parade float), go, up, mama, and papa. On a night made particularly dreary by a cold and teething, Francesca perfected the plaintive wail of "mama - baby - mama - baby - mama - baby."
Francesca continues to love books and claps happily and/or says bye-bye at the end of each one (enthusiasm level correlating to the quality of the rendition, of course). Francesca can also imitate a fish (little lips flapping) and, when queried about the location of her nose, puts her right index finger either on or up it. Sometimes when locating her nose she gets distracted by her new top four teeth and explores those for a while. With the new four joining the three bottom biters, the total is up to seven.
The toy of choice has become a ride-on car that converts to a push toy -- it allows Francesca to practice her walking while being totally delighted that she's getting across the room without clenching anyone's fingers. She's also cruising with the aid of furniture and standing for short periods of time alone -- another favorite occasion for spontaneous hand-clapping.
Such a hard-working little girl certainly deserves a treat. Francesca's fine palate has recently demonstrated a liking for feta and leek quiche and vegetable ravioli. Ice cream awaits the day that Francesca turns one . . . somehow, we think she'll like it.
